(註:本文是轉載於加拿大 dogs in canada 雜誌).
本文是用狗糧成份來計算狗糧質數!首先用100分起步,按照成份列表來加减.剩下的分數就是狗糧的等級.

减分成份
1)成份中含"by-product"（肉類副產品）.减10分
2)成份中含 non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or fat) reference.（禽類副產品）
或（動物副產品）和(脂肪).减10分
3)成份中含 BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin(防腐劑).减10分
4)成份中含 "mill run"(人工原料) or non-specific grain source(不是天然的穀類材料).减10分
5)同一類成份材料在頭五项成份中出現两次.(例如:米,紅米,麵粉等)(註:所有狗糧材料成份依份量最多以先後排列).减5分
6)没有两種肉類或含蛋白質材料在頭三项成份中出現.减3分
7)成份中含 artificial colorants(人造色素).减3分
8)成份中含 ground corn or whole grain corn (玉米或玉米產品).有一些狗對玉米會有皮膚敏感.减3分
9)頭五项成份中出現玉米.减2分
10)成份中 animal fat (動物脂肪)含量多過 fish oil(魚油).减2分
11)成份中 lamb(羊) 是唯－的含蛋白質材料.减2分 (如果你的狗對其它肉有類敏感除外)
12)成份中含 soy or soybeans(大豆).减2分
13)成份中含 wheat(小麥).减2分 (如果你的狗對小麥没有敏感除外)
14)成份中含 beef(牛).减1分 (如果你的狗對牛没有敏感除外)
15)成份中含 salt(鹽).减1分

加分成份
1)成份中含 meat sources(肉類) are organic(有機產品).加5分
2)成份中含 major breed group(純肉類) or nutritionist(營養物質).加5分
3)食糧是烘熟,不是擠壓而成.加5分
4)成份中含 fruit(生果).加3分
5)成份中含 probiotics(維生素).加3分
6)成份中含 vegetables(蔬菜).(不包括玉米或任何穀類)加3分
7)所有肉類成份 hormone-free(不含荷爾蒙)或 antibiotic-free(不含抗生素).加2分
8)成份中含 barley(大麥).加2分
9)成份中含 flax seed oil(亞麻籽油).(不計種子)加2分
10)成份中含 oats(燕麥) or oatmeal (燕麥片).加1分
11)成份中含 sunflower oil(向日葵油).加1分
12)成份中含不同项肉類蛋白質材料成份.加1分(但如果列出成份如"chicken"(雞)和"chicken meal"(雞肉) 只計－種)加1分
13)成份中含 glucosamine(葡萄糖) 或 chondroitin.加1分
14)蔬菜成份經檢驗證實不含農藥 "pesticide-free".加1分

        94-100+ = A 86-93 = B 78-85 = C 70-77 = D <70 = F
世上没有最好的狗糧.因為你給最好的給它,它不喜歡食也没有用.
